"Range of Correctness"external image screenplay1990al.jpg

SCREENWRITTING isn't hard
when you PLAY by the RULES.
So first things first
FOCUS most definitely on FORMAT.
If you choose to STRAY from the preferred path,
one shall suffer the CONSEQUENCES.
Don't allow yourself to be written as amateur.
The guide of Final Draft is most commonly followed.
This business is cut-throat,
your advised to STAND OUT.
Always 'SHOW' your audience- it's VISUAL MEDIUM.
AVOID distractions to the reader!
Proof read and edit with entertainment in mind.
Keep it SHORT and sweet when it comes to paragraphing.

But leave in the DETAIL.
No more than FIVE lines should do well here.
Ninety five to One twenty five pages is just about right.
Do not let a scene go unread.
So be sure each one is CRUCIAL to the conclusion of the film.
Some words from the wise,
write with PASSION.
HOOK the audience with 'what if's'.
When the protag needs something to AQUIRE,
this is always a great sign.
Obstacles and CONFLICT are what the public thrive.
Please speak in REAL TIME.
We all want to be there.
Never fade out in the end.

EMPHASIZE using caps.
Don't do more work than necessary,
so leave camera angles for the director to decide.
Be CREATIVE with your DIALOGUE.
Have the audience QUOTING your lines.
You WILL be successful,
only if you CHOOSE to be.
BELIEVE in yourself,
and keep in mind
the range of correctness.
